The BBC has released a statement relating to its commission of High Definition programmes on the network and it is good news for all of you who currently own a High-Definition TV set. From April 2011, we can expect all network programmes to be made in HD, now the preferred delivery format for all new BBC network shows. The statement suggests that the costs of producing a show in HD, as opposed to its Standard-Definition counterpart, has fallen drastically over recent years, meaning the cost argument for not filming in HD is now no longer relevant, especially given the vastly improved picture quality present on HD shows.
