Many of us will fondly remember the slightly bizarre Chewits adverts of the early eighties. However, you may also have noticed that adverts such as the famous Chewits ads for sweets and confectionery are very uncommon now due to recent legislation that prevents unhealthy products being advertised during programs that are intended for the under 16s. As confectionery products are typically marketed to children this can be seen as the main reason for the decline in the number of ads for these goods. (more…)
