High definition technology took another massive leap forward this week with Panasonic releasing the largest full 3D plasma screen to date at a whopping 152 inches across. The catchily named TH-152UX1 offers a positively eye burning resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 in an aspect ratio of 17:9, but don’t be tossing the remainder of your lounge furniture out the window yet as it is unlikely the price will be as attractive as the specification. In this age of flat panel, widescreen, high-def, 3D, digital TVs you might be left wandering what will become of your old CRT television set. There’s no doubt that this old technology is now obsolete and you won’t be seeing any more CRT sets being produced in the years to come. The digital switchover has begun and gradually more and more regions of the UK are losing their analogue TV signal. There is now no analogue signal in Wales and the rest of the UK is following over the next year or two, so many people will be looking at replacing there television altogether rather than just getting a set top box or subscribing to Sky or Virgin.
