Ambilight produces a fully surrounding glow of light that compliments the colours and light intensity on all four sides of the image and with the unique design creates a 'floating display'. Ambilight works by analysing the input video signal in real time to determine the dominant color in each area of the screen, averaged over a number of frames. It then uses color-mapping transformations to extend these color signatures beyond the screen.
